Massage and sleep: why you feel wiped, then great

That heavy, drowsy feeling afterwards is the point, not a side effect.

People are sometimes surprised to feel foggy and tired after a massage. That is the body shifting out of its wound-up, on-guard state and into the mode where it actually rests and repairs — and the switch is disorienting at first.

The better sleep tends to arrive that same night. A session lowers the background hum of tension that keeps a lot of people lying awake, and the effect on a restless sleeper can be more useful than any gadget.

Our only advice afterwards is to not schedule anything sharp. Drink some water, keep the evening soft, and let the drowsiness carry you to an early night.
