Hot Stone

How we heat the stones (and why temperature is everything)

Too cool and nothing happens; too hot and the body clenches. The window is narrow on purpose.

Every stone in the studio spends its rest in a temperature-controlled bath, not a microwave and not a kettle. Even heat, all the way through, is the whole point — a hot edge and a cool centre is useless and unsafe.

Before a stone ever touches a client it is tested against the therapist's own forearm, the same way you would test a baby's bottle. Warm enough to feel welcoming, never hot enough to make you flinch.

Skin sensitivity varies, so we check in during the first minute and adjust. Good hot-stone work should feel like sinking into a warm bath, not like being pressed with something you want to pull away from.
