Swedish vs deep tissue: which one you actually want
They are not beginner and advanced versions of the same thing. They do different jobs.
Swedish massage is long, flowing and relatively light. Its job is circulation and calm: it moves blood, quiets the nervous system, and leaves you loose and a little sleepy. It is the right choice when the goal is to unwind.
Deep tissue is slower and more focused. The therapist works across specific tight bands with patient, sustained pressure, aiming at a stubborn shoulder or a locked lower back rather than the whole body.
The common mistake is booking deep tissue because it sounds more serious. If what you need is to decompress after a hard month, Swedish will serve you better — and you will not walk out sore the next morning.
